Within the last year, I have had several dreams that have stuck out in my spirit. I will share two of them because I believe that they are relevant to one another.
Dream One
(This dream took place about May of '04)
My sister--who is from Indianapolis--had come down to Louisville to see me. She and I are avid "house watchers" when we are together, just going around the city checking out different sizes, shapes, levels of grandeur, etc. In this dream, we were on the expressway on our way to view some homes in a historic part of my city.
She was going too fast and ended up missing our exit. I told her not to worry; we could just get off at the next one and circle back to our original exit. The exit we took placed us by several of the seminaries in my city. Suddenly it started raining violently. Then hail stones started falling; lightning was going on and so was thunder. I told her that we should pull over and get in some place safe to wait out the storm.
We ended up pulling into this "Mom and Pop" restaurant that was in an old antiquated house. She and I rushed inside out of the rain, and found two women sitting in a booth in the far corner of the room. One was an older white woman. The other was a younger white woman. As we approached the table, we could overhear their conversation and it seemed as if they were saved because they were talking about the things of God. But upon arriving at their table, we noticed that the older woman--while she was speaking on spiritual matters--was contradicting herself. She said, "Folks talking about they are saved, but they living like the world...drinking and carrying on." Then she took a huge swig of beer from the mug she had in her hand. The younger woman looked embarassed at the elders actions.
They invited us to share a meal with them but the food they offered was stranged because it was as if they knew exactly what we wanted. They offered me this meat dish my great-grandmother--who's been dead for almost 5 years--used to make me; and they offer my sister the only thing she'll eat, chicken fingers, fries and dr. pepper.
We finished eating and went out the door. She and I asked one another the same question: Was the weird to you? We got in my sisters 2 door vehicle, and as she turned around to back out of the parking space, the young woman was sitting in the backseat. (There is no way she could have gotten in without us seeing her.) She started yelling, "Hurry...hurry...if they catch you, they'll kill you." My sister turned to see a mob rush out of the house towards the car, looking as if they would rip us apart if they reached us. She pulled out quickly and we were on our way. My sister and the young woman engaged one another in conversation during the ride, but I was quiet because I felt lost. The city had changed somehow and it was now looking like another city in Kentucky, Lexington.
We crossed the bridge and the entire city was black, except for the lights on the bridge. I was said, "Man, I guess the power went out." Both the young woman and my sister said, "No, it's just a transition."
We continued on to my cousins house and my baby cousin came running out of house. "Tiffy, Tiffy, she try kill you!" I asked her mom what she was talking about, and she said, "Those two women you saw today were witches, and one was riding in the car with you."
Then I woke up...
Dream Two
In this dream...
My cousins had been in South Carolina with their father. And it was time for them to return home. When they arrived, the two girls (ages 5, 4 respectively) were ok. But the baby boy (Age 18 mos.) was very different. In fact, he looked quite sickly. His skin was ashen and dry, and his long beautiful hair--that is usually curly and shiny--was laying limply at his shoulders...it was brittle and all the luster was gone.
I began to cry because of the state he was in. He couldn't walk or talk, and he had been doing so since about 9 mos. old. My grandmother looked at me and said two words, "Don't cry." With that she picked up a bottle of milk and began feeding him. It was as if that bottle held his lifesource because his hair began to return to normal as did his skin and abilities.
Then I woke up.
(I have to add this, this baby's name is Avery PROPHET... I believe that he was symbolic in this dream.)
